The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we might be able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.

The ice forces the gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a gooey and stringy mess. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper right under the gum. After that we slide the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off the concrete.

The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.

When we remove chewing gum that has turned black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal service, we won’t use high pressure because that could harm the surface of the concrete!
